CAFE HOPPING IN SEOUL, 2018 EDITION (INSTAGRAMMABLE CAFES!)

Tuesday, November 13, 2018

You guys know how much i love Seoul, in fact I love it so much that I was practically squealing the whole time I was there. I couldn't believe I finally stepped foot on Seoul's soil again, finally after almost 1 year!

This time, I decided to fly over to Seoul from Fukuoka after a work trip because... just because I thought I needed a break and I wanted to celebrate our birthdays together (we're both oct babies) and yep! Booked 2 one way tickets and I regretted it a little when I saw the credit card bills but this regret immediately went away after I remembered how much fun I had there.

BEST. CITY. EVER
Ok I digress, I was only there for 3 days this time because work calls and Im a responsible adult, but nevertheless we visited lots of awesome cafes which I promised to share in a post today.

VER'S GARDEN
10 Donggyo-ro 41-gil, Yeonnam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea

This place was a greenery heaven. 3 storeys with different seats, rooms with different themes and even an outdoor seating area with sunbeds.
If you like greenery you'd love this place!
Food and drinks were very meh , but we were there for the photos really.

Bread Comma, Hongdae
15 Yanghwa-ro 21-gil, Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea
This cafe is something you wont miss once you head to Hongdae (which is amazing for clothes and street food snacks btw) I think Hongdae has now become my favorite part of Seoul because the shopping there is so good, and it's full of instagrammable and good cafes everywhere!
I ordered an iced latte and boy, it was so good!

Thanks, Oat - Hongdae
375-113 Yeonnam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul
While walking to another cafe in the small alleyways in Hongdae, we chanced upon this cute little cafe that looked like an igloo from the outside!
(image taken off of their instagram)
Check out their amazing aesethetically-pleasing instagram page !
Sarah and I were too full to get anything but they did seem like they serve an extensive menu of oats, granola, muesli, yoghurt etc.

Coffee Nap Roasters, Mapo-gu
Yeonnam-ro, Yeonnam-dong, Mapo-gu
JUST.LOOK.AT.THIS.AESTHETICS
I FRIGGIN LOVE SEOUL OMG
Unfortunately it was soooo crowded and the place was really tiny and we had a hard time trying to find proper seats so we left after waiting for 10 mins. Still makes for an amazing photos spot !

Cafe Onion
8 Achasan-ro 9(gu)-gil, Seongsu-dong 2(i)-ga, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, South Korea
While this cafe was a little out of the way, it was my favorite!
If you like yourself an industrial feel cafe, with lots of empty spaces, concrete and imperfct walls with a little bit of nature, this is the cafe for you.
Plus, they've got lots of breadddddd!
Although it didn't taste that good and the prices of the coffee + pastries were super overpriced, I was willing to pay for the entire feel of the place and for the amazing photos we got.

Seoul Coffee
33-3 Supyo-ro 28-gil, Jongno 1(il).2(i).3(sam).4(sa), Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea
Located in Ikseon-dong, this place was recommended to me by my dear friend who's studying in korea (if you're reading this rachel!!) and she said that ikseondong is a new area where the young korean people hang out.
She was so so right.

Ikseon-dong is one of the prettiest areas to visit and you get instagrammable spots everywhere you go. Every 2 steps and you'll find yourself walking into a beautifully decorated cafe.

A random corner in Ikseondong
A cafe specially selling korean rice cakes.

Seoul Coffee
Upon walking in, you feel as though you walked into an olden day korean traditional house. Except, it's air-conditioned, and has a lot of beautiful light shining in.
We walked in and got stared at by lots of customers sipping on their coffees, not fun - but I blame the layout of this place hahaha it's kinda awkward because you feel like you're constantly being rushed by the customers waiting for you to finish up and leave.
After visiting for the second time, we finally got a seat!
Ordered an iced cappuccino and sarah, an iced americano.
The coffee was thick and strong, slightly bitter but that's how I like it!

Overall, I love seoul and its ever-changing cafe scene.
I only spent 3 days in Seoul and as you can see, we did nothing but cafe hop and shop pretty much, and that's the way I like my trips to be.

Fritz Coffee Company
68 Mapo-daero, Dohwa-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea

Before we caught our flight on the last day, we visited Fritz Coffee Company, a hipster cafe that have several branches all around Seoul.
I highly recommend the croissants and pastries here, it's pretty good and really fluffy!
Coffee wise, everywhere in Seoul have above-average coffee so it really is about the feel and look of the place.

And that's it guys!

Stay safe and warm for those travelling to seoul!
I hope this list came in useful x
Love
Mong
